Saudi Arabia 3rd Worldwide, a 'Very Advanced' Digital Leader

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved third place globally and ranked first regionally according to the data of GOVTECH Maturity Index for 2022 issued by the World Bank Group that was announced today in the press conference that was held in Washington, DC.
 

Saudi Arabia has made major progress in all sub-indicators, as it was classified within the group of "very advanced" countries, which includes countries with very high performance in the field of e-government. On this occasion, H.E. Eng. Abdullah Bin Amer Al-Sawaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of  Digital Government Authority, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz for the support and empowerment provided by Saudi Arabia’s government to advance the digital transformation process.
 

H.E. Eng. Ahmed Bin Mohammad Al-Suwaiyan, the Governor of Digital Government Authority, expressed his pride in the achievement of Saudi Arabia, appreciating the unlimited support that the digital government has enjoyed from the wise Leadership which marks the culmination of integration and joint work between the government agencies within the initiatives and programs of digital transformation to achieve the objectives of the Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, by providing advanced government services through high quality digital products that support the national economy.
 

Saudi Arabia was distinguished in the GOVTECH Maturity Index and its sub-indicators, where the index measures 4 main areas: the availability of Core Government Systems, the Public Service Delivery, the Citizen Engagement, and the GovTech Enablers. According to the index data, Saudi Arabia achieved a high maturity rate at the level of the general index, with a rate of 97.13%, which placed Saudi Arabia among the leading and innovative countries globally. In the Core Government Systems index, Saudi Arabia’s maturity rate in this field reached 96.29%, while the maturity rate reached 97.69% in the GovTech Enablers index. In addition, Saudi Arabia continued to excel in the Public Service Delivery index and the Citizen Engagement index, with maturity rates of 97.93 % and 96.62%, respectively, which made Saudi Arabia to be among the group (A) leading highly advanced countries in all sub-indicators.
 

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia recently achieved its highest historical result in the E-Government Development Index issued by the United Nations, and it advanced 12 ranks globally, and came among the best countries in the world in the fields of providing government services information and providing/sharing open government data to citizens and business sectors, as it has achieved the biggest leap among similar countries economically and socially, and the city of Riyadh ranked fourth in the world in the use of technology and its applications within the “very high range” classification among 193 cities around the world.
