The Digital Government Authority launched the pilot regulatory environment initiative for government technology companies, in the presence of the Authority’s Governor, Eng. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Suwayan. It included the signing of cooperation and partnership models between the authority and a number of government technical companies to develop the regulatory environment in several stages. The initiative included the governance and promotion of digital government services in the Kingdom, the preparation of the necessary regulations to improve the business environment, in addition to addressing the challenges facing companies and institutions in digital government services, and improving the beneficiary’s experience.
Al-Suwayan explained that the initiative aims to find regulatory solutions in the field of digital platforms and services, to overcome several challenges such as regulating intellectual property rights, data sharing mechanisms, and the lack of harmonization, noting that the authority’s endeavor to govern the regulatory environment in an integrated and systematic manner contributes to raising the efficiency and quality of platforms. Digitalization and harmonization of government procedures, as well as strengthening the partnership between the government sector and the private sector. He pointed out that the authority aims to reach an attractive environment for investment in the field of digital government services, create opportunities for innovation and creativity, as well as empower the private sector as a partner in the development process of the digital government transformation process and build distinct national capabilities capable of achieving digital leadership for the Kingdom, within the objectives of Vision 2030.
