On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, The Digital Regulation and Trust Sector, represented by the Digital Trust & ID General Department, organized a workshop on “Saudi Arabia's adoption of the Model Law issued by United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL)”. Such workshop was attended by UNCITRAL representatives and a number of public and private agencies representatives; (MCIT, CST, MC, SDAIA, SAMA, Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, ZATCA, Ministry of Justice, NCC, and SABB).
During the workshop, the Digital Transactions and Trust Law draft preparing methodology, normative studies results conducted by Digital Government Authority (“DGA”) with regard to “UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR)” and the “United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts” were reviewed. The workshop also included a number of other topics to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and UNCITRAL in the field of transactions and digital ID.
This workshop was held in implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between NCC and the United Nations represented by the Office of Legal Affairs, approved by Council of Ministers Resolution No. (236) dated 16/04/1442 AH.
